Apply for a wedding

A medical professional is someone who is involved in your care and treatment, e.g. your GP, nurse or consultant. They will be asked to support your application and if you meet the criteria. This cannot be your carer. All information received is treated in the strictest of confidence.

We will meet with you to discuss your application should you be shortlisted. At this meeting we will talk in depth about the kind of wedding you would like, how many guests etc. It will be then that we decide if we have enough funds and suppliers in your area to carry out your wishes. The more extravagant the wedding the less likely it is to fulfil. However we can put on a more than substantial wedding for our applicants.

We want to get to know you, this isn't always possible from a written application. So we want to see photographs, videos, letters, poems, anything that you think will show us why it is so important that you marry each other, what your home life is like, how hard it is living with your illness. We get lots of applications so be sure to make yours stand out. Be honest with what you need and the extra things that you would love, should it be possible.

We aim to look at your application within 14 working days after receiving it. We will then discuss with the board of Trustees your application, how and if we think we can help you. An outcome will be reached after approx 1 week. If we think we can help you, we will then meet you in-person or via a video call to go over your wedding expectations. If after that we feel we can still help, we will commit to your wedding. If we cannot meet your expectations we will contact you. If you wish to reapply then you can do so after 2 months have passed from the date on your rejection correspondence.

If the wedding is growing closer and it is looking unlikely that you will be able to go ahead. We ask you to let us know by email or phone call as soon as possible so that we can cancel all our suppliers. If this happens and you would like to try again at a later date then contact us to discuss this. Again in the event of death please contact us before the wedding date.

The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation will try to fund all or part of your wedding. However you will know how much is covered from the beginning. We meet the cost by dealing with suppliers who work with us providing very generous discounts or their services for free. For the remainder of the costs we have fundraising teams who work tirelessly to keep the funds coming in. It is essential that once you have applied with us that you do not contact ANY suppliers. This could jeopardise the whole wedding.

Damages or expenses due to theft during the wedding will be charged to the bride and groom.

Please note that we DO NOT cover the cost of the marriage (i.e. marriage license, church fees, registrars fees etc.)

As much as we try and make your wedding day perfect, unfortunately the weather is out of our control. Some parts of the wedding may have to be moved or even cancelled. However, our team will still try and make it as special as possible whatever the weather.

On the day, where possible a wedding planner will be with you. This depends on whether we are organising your whole wedding or just parts of it. A full wedding will include at least one wedding planner who will make sure everything runs smoothly. If we are helping by arranging a few suppliers for you, then we suggest you either hire your own wedding planner, or ask the venue if they have anyone runs the day or who acts as a master of ceremonies for example, who can help to keep the wedding run to time.

Occasionally problems can arise, as we are working with 3rd parties, which are out of our control. But by having a wedding planner present these can be kept to a minimum so that your wedding goes very smoothly. Sometimes things do happen which are out of our control. Please rest assured that those working on your wedding will do their best to make sure this does not happen.

You can ask for anything you like. We do our best to be able to get you the things that you have always dreamed of for your wedding. We cannot promise that everything will be possible but we do our best to make your day extra special.

No we do not offer sums of money to couples to get married nor cover the cost of suppliers (including venues) arranged by the couple prior to acceptance. All other suppliers need to be discussed with the team before approaching, as we will negotiate on your behalf.

There is none! We are hear to make sure that no matter what your health situation is that you have the wedding day you've always dreamed of.

Ideally not. The way in which we work, this would put us at a disadvantage and maybe jeopardise us using that venue or supplier. It does not mean however that we can't get you that venue or supplier for your wedding day. Please do not contact anymore suppliers until we have met with you and made a plan of action.
